Forest Plan Implementation
Forest Plan Overview
Chapter 4 - Forest-wide Standards and Guidelines
Introduction
At the project planning level, Forest-wide Standards and Guidelines (S&G) are typically used, in conjunction with the LUD direction found in Chapter 3, to guide project design and implementation.
Interpretation and Implementation of Standards and Guidelines must be consistent across the Forest.
If a S&G does not seem appropriate for a project, the Forest Plan can be amended to provide for an exception or adjustment.
The level of effort expended in project planning should be commensurate with the level of information needed to support reasoned decision making.
This chapter includes the following sections. Most of these represent specific sections within Chapter 4; however, a few categories have been added because they represent important issues and are covered by multiple resources or categories (e.g., Biodiversity and Roadless).
