A number of guidance documents have been developed to assist resource personnel conducting botany and vegetation analyses during Forest Plan implementation.

These documents include:

  • Dillman, K.L. and P.C. Krosse. 2009. Guidance for preparing a Botany Resource Report - Tongass National Forest. USDA Forest Service.
    • Describes the purpose and gives a detailed description of the elements of a Botany Resource Report conducted on the Tongass National Forest.
  • Dillman, K.L., P.C. Krosse, and C. Sever. 2009. Tongass National Forest - Guidance for Biological Evaluations: Sensitive Plants. USDA Forest Service.
    • Provides information for those conducting Biological Evaluations (BEs) for sensitive plants on the Tongass National Forest; intended to improve the quality and consistency of the BE process for plants across the Forest.
  • Krosse, P.C. and P. O'Connor. 2009. Tongass N.F. Size-Density Model: Forest and Project Planning Applications. USDA Forest Service.
    • White paper gives overview and background of model and describes the Forest Plan uses and future applications for the model. Also see the information on the Size-Density Model web page.
