Forest Plan Annual Monitoring Report
The Forest Service has changed the structure of the Tongass Forest Plan annual monitoring report. Fiscal Year 2007 was the last year of the detailed annual reports that cover all resource topics. Under the new structure the Forest Service prepares comprehensive reports every 5 years and annual summary reports. Fiscal Year 2009 was the second year for the annual summary report and Fiscal Year 2012 will be the first year for the comprehensive report.
The most recent Annual Monitoring report is for 2009. Some of the monitoring protocols changed in 2008 with the issuance of the Record of Decision for the Tongass Land and Resource Management Plan (Forest Plan) Amendment. This plan amendment was completed in January 2008. A number of the monitoring questions changed to help the Forest better define and focus the monitoring work.
